The National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences is the Romanian legal entity in the coordination of the Ministry of Education and Research.
The institute was set up by HG nr. 1317/11.12.1996 by the reorganizing and fusing of the Institute of Biological Development Bucharest, the Institute for Biological Research Cluj-Napoca, The Institute for Biological Research Iasi CCBCG "Stejarul" Piatra Neamt.
In 2002 it fused by absorbtion with the ex-National Institute of Research and Development for Biotechnologies on the basis of HG nr. 1272 from Nov. 13, 2002. At present INCDSB is organized and works in the conditions stipulated by HG nr.2082/24.11.2004.
